Perry Pontac Prince Lear

Prince Lear is a radio play written by Perry Pontac, serving as a parody prequel to Shakespeare's King Lear. This unique adaptation unfolds in blank verse, bringing a fresh perspective to the classic tale.

The story features Old King Lear, portrayed by John Moffat in an imitation of Gielgud, who is married to Eudoxia, played by Rosalind Shanks. After being accused of infidelity, Eudoxia tragically drowns herself. Meanwhile, Lear the younger proposes marriage to Kent, who is revealed to be a woman in disguise.

With a talented cast including John Shrapnel as Kent, Claire Skinner as Goneril, and directed by Richard Wortley, this production offers a delightful twist on a timeless story.
