Pearl Buck

Pearl S. Buck was an American author and Nobel Prize laureate, best known for her rich and insightful portrayals of life in China, where she spent much of her early life. Born on June 26, 1892, in Hillsboro, West Virginia, Buck was the daughter of missionaries and grew up immersed in the culture and language of China. Her experiences there profoundly shaped her worldview and literary voice. She captured the complexities of Chinese society and the struggles of its people, weaving them into compelling narratives that resonated with readers worldwide.
