At the Earth's Core (version 2)
Gelesen von Mark Nelson
Edgar Rice Burroughs
David Innes is a mining heir who finances the experimental "iron mole," an excavating vehicle designed by his elderly inventor friend Abner Perry. In a test run, they discover the vehicle cannot be turned, and it burrows 500 miles into the Earth's crust, emerging into the unknown interior world of Pellucidar. In Burroughs' concept, the Earth is a hollow shell with Pellucidar as the internal surface of that shell.
Pellucidar is inhabited by prehistoric creatures of all geological eras, and dominated by the Mahars, a species of flying reptile both intelligent and civilized, but which enslaves and preys on the local stone-age humans. Innes and Perry are captured by the Mahars' ape-like Sagoth servants and taken with other human captives to the chief Mahar city of Phutra. Among their fellow captives are the brave Ghak, the Hairy One, from the country of Sari, the shifty Hooja the Sly One and the lovely Dian the Beautiful of Amoz. - Summary by Wikipedia (4 hr 57 min)

mark nelson is a talented reader. he made this adventure a pleasure to hear.... id listen to it again and enjoy it just as much... more so than later books in the series which made pellucidar into a modern technology....(which was disappointing).
Fantastic

Very well read. Great story but very similar to the John Carter series. If you enjoyed those books you will enjoy this one.
excellent reading of an imaginative tale

Superb reading - Mark is in the top 5 readers on LibriVox. The stilted tale is non-stop action - Buroughs has a nack for description and pace that promotes visualizing the place, the characters and what is happening. His themes and tone are stilted and naive at times but nonetheless entertaining.
Outstanding App

This is one of my favorite apps from my iPhone. I use it on a regular basis and especially while driving. The books available seem endless. The volunteer readers are very professional. I even have my favorites.
A Fun Read!

Mr. Nelson knocks it out of the park yet again! I really enjoyed this story as much for the world building as for the story itself. ERB out did himself this time around.
A fine tale with an odd ending

Wish Librevox would improve their review element of this app for iPhone. Never can tell if it gets sent until it's too late to go back.
