Never was there a more clever young aviator than Dave Dashaway, and all up-to-date lads will surely wish to make his acquaintance. This initial volume tells how the hero ran away from his miserly guardian, fell in with a successful airman, and became a young aviator of note. (From the 1913 edition) (4 hr 35 min)

Fun story

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It's a good old fashioned tale about an adventurous boy at the dawn of the aviation age. There's impossible coincidences, dastardly villains, and a young hero determined to do right. The narrator was terrific; I'll be on the lookout for more of his books.

Scott Danaker does a fantastic job in his reading of this book. He captures the boyish charm of the novel and his enthusiasm for the subject shines through! Can't wait to hear the next one!
Very good, for a younger audience

Brilliant narrator and an exciting story in the genre of "boy's own adventures". Scott Danneker has very good RSVP: rhythm, speed volume and pitch.
Very fun adventure series, waiting to see how the characters develops after this first book into aviation. The narrator is fun to listen to.
