Richard Harding Davis
What if figures of animals had lives of their own? If the figures of a lion and a unicorn at the shop across the street could talk, what would they say about the little things in life that they see every day on the streets of London? This short story describes the love story of Philip Caroll and Helen Cabot, as witnessed by these two figures.. (Summary by Carolin) (1 hr 40 min)

The story has a unique perspective (from the point of view of the lion and unicorn) that works surprisingly well. As for the reader, I've listened to many of Carolin's readings and enjoyed them all. She has a distinctive style and a devoted following attesting to her talent. As for listeners who complain about the volunteer readers, they should remember that the approved readers select their own books to read. When a male reader chooses to read the Richard Harding Davis or Sherlock Holmes books, for example, librivox will certainly allow him to do so. In the meantime we can only be grateful to the readers who have chosen to give us free entertainment at the cost of their own time and effort. If we are not pleased with the result, professionally narrated audiobooks are readily for sale via other venues.

2018 - this story took so many years to get into. finally did. I liked it. point of the story "we dont want something until we think someone else does" ok, ok, I'll be nice and add the romance. "We don't know what we have til it's gone".
