delightful read
This novel has a serious storyline. As a Black American, I am glad to see that this part of Elsie's life includes the anarchists known as the Klu Klux Klan. It was very well covered.
A Favorite

I love the Elsie Dinsmore series (especially books 1-12) and this one (book 5 - Motherhood) is probably my favorite.
Good read

I really enjoyed the book about the trials and joys of this happy little family. I also really enjoyed the reader.
Best Elsie Book Yet

This one was much more decent than any previous book. Here's why: 1. Elsie and Edward treat their children well. 2. Elsie's children don't have semi-romantic relationships (at least, not yet) with grown men. 3. There was a lot of interesting historical information. That said, I find it hilarious that a lady who never had kids thought she knew so well how to raise children. (Moral of the story: if you're a perfect parent, you'll have darling little angels instead of normal children 😂)

I think the biggest problem I had with Elsie was that she never acts like a main character, meaning she never grows she remains that exact same person since we met her in book 1. This is not natural nor human, we grow and change Elsie does not and I think that is what makes her such an irritating character. No one can relate to her she is in an entirely different world. Unlike Anne Shirley, Joe Marsh, or Elizabeth Bennett she does not grow, while these heroines grow, and are not the same person at the end of the book. Elsie has not changed into someone wiser instead she just becomes boring and annoying making the books tedious to read.

can someone else read the chapters read by Kimberly Krause? she is a very clear reader, but not very smooth... it kinda makes it hard to get into the story
