The most beautiful story I've ever had....
Stephanie

Wow, this epic tale is a doozey! I didn't get to read this in high school as it was never assigned..I've no idea as to why that was. I am so elated to have had this opportunity..it is a long, long story, and very complicated to follow at times. At the end it is so very much worth the 54+ hours. I am still emotional about its conclusions. For some characters it ends badly, but for three key characters it has a happy ending. Even if you've a cold dead heart, you may find yourself weeping. I cannot Express how much I love this book. And such a fantastic Reader, thank you, Mr. David Clarke, for such a fine Reading! And for putting in such an immense amount of time! And thank you, Librivox, for making such a great classic available! I shall always recommend this book to everyone I come across. 💖💖💖 to all. Just finished this entire audiobook for the 2nd time, 23 Dec 2020. A poignant end to cap off this year. Once again, thank you Librivox & David Clarke for an incredible Reading. Stay safe one & all.💝♾🌻☯️

Wait and Hope

"The sum of all human wisdom will be contained in these two words: Wait and Hope." I had an excellent time on this journey with Dumas. My favorite parts were these reflections on the human experience, which made my mind tingle in excitement. The presentation is marvelous in ways otherwise stated in these reviews. Many thanks to Mr Clarke and the Librivox team, for making this classic read so enjoyable. Thanks for reading my brief review, and take good care. ~ S
Thank you!

This has been my favorite book for a couple decades now. David Clarke does it more than justice, not just reading it aloud but bringing the characters, especially the titular one, to life. He even goes so far as to match the accent to the persona and/or character who is speaking. If you have not read through this many-layered book, this is a wonderful way to be introduced to it. As the ‘English banker’ says (and Clarke excellently read), “Well done!”
Masterful Reading

This story had been on my mind for some time that I would like to read one day, but was weary at the length. By chance when I finished Mr. Clarke's narration of the Sherlock Holmes series I saw that he had taken on this mammoth. I can't thank you enough sir for the voices, the pacing, and the breadth of understanding that comes through in your recordings! Love from Canada
Outstanding

I started this book with another recording, and when I ran out of time on the download switched to this. I had made a mistake not starting with this one. This recording is far superior, a delight, and has been a wonderful companion to my morning barn chores for weeks. I am at a loss as to what to do tomorrow, I will miss this wonderful story so much.

I was amazed how a book could be so long without dragging in places with unnecessary description or uninteresting sideline plots. At first I was unsure, (it starts off a little slow) but WOW it picked up and I couldn't stop listening! I was hoping this one would last me awhile since it was so long... haha. Great story!
the beauty of story telling -

The beauty of story telling- is a combination of a captivating story, and imaginative, riveting narration. David Clarke has perfected this art as he invites you into the settings, as you “watch and listen to the dialogues” not as a voyeur, but as one in the same room as the characters, short of you participating in the conversation. Through David you are drawn, no, pulled by the scent of the humid prison cells, the beautiful flowers in the grandest palaces, then catapulted to feel the sorrows and joys of the characters. As the Englishman, the Italian abbey, the Frenchman, David will entrance you and transport you to a different far away place and time . Story telling at its best, thank you David Clarke
