The very first national geographic?

(5 Sterne)

Thank you so very much for this, a treasure and a treat. I've read a couple of books in the past two years about the 1888 hurricane. this great national tragedy and landmark of weather reporting is too little-known nowadays, esp considering it was known as THE GREAT BLIZZARD I think. Any first issue of Nat Geo would be worth a gander: but they went and picked a doozie of a first topic to end up with a blockbuster first edition! I can imagine the photos must have had similar impact on early readers as matthew brady's war images did. We're not worthy wonderful volunteers on archive.org or however you uploaded this! Thank you!

Fascinating Reading

Three sections review a storm in March of 1888 that in certain respects reminds me of Hurricane Sandy. For weather geeks like me those sections are definitely worth the download. Very interesting to compare their techniques of gathering storm information compared to today's technologies.
