Nice first read on librivox

I'm new to Librivox and am starting out with science fiction. I like Marion Zimmer Bradley and was pleased to see her name. I loved the narrator's voice, inflection, and speed of reading.

This is an excellent story

and Mark does his usual great job. Thanks Mark!!! Humans are believed to be unable to handle interstellar flight without being in stasis, and this has allowed another race to maintain a monopoly on it. However, not everyone believes this story, and humans who have tried to uncover the truth have been killed. Enter Bart Steele who ends up in the middle of this plot to uncover the truth, and due to his mixed race is able to impersonate those who have the secret of interstellar travel. Can Bart unravel the mystery? Stay tuned! Sorry, had a cheesy moment there, but this neat story reminds me of the Captain Proton episodes on Voyager. There is another version of this story on LV, but it is somewhat poorly done, some of the chapters are read by someone with a thick accent and I could not understand it. This version totally rocks. Enjoy!

A great story , a great adventure , and a perfect reader in Mark Nelson . What more can I say !!!

A thoroughly excellent tale

(5 Sterne)

I really enjoyed this story and the excellent reading of it by Mark Nelson. it's a well paced tale which contains many twists and turns without being convoluted. it has some interesting ideas about people and the real world beyond its fictional universe. I found some parts thought provoking and it must have been quite so when it was originally printed.

it is a classic

it is a combine of very good story with very good idea of racial meeting with humanoid aliens. and all of that combined with a very good narration. its hard to ignore the lack of womens, especially between the aliens. but don't mistake, the story is amazing all the same.

Engaging and suspenseful overall, some flaws.

The reader is excellent, letting the story shine. I found it quite good, with some nail-biting moments. I had some moments of occasional annoyance with spots in the story or characterizations I found weak, but I enjoyed it overall and can recommend it.

Simply Awesome

A real page turner figuratively speaking. Character development is accomplished quickly but fully. As a result the story grabs you quickly and doesn't let go. I actually sat in the car for a hour after getting home from work just to finish the book.

Great story & excellent reader!

This is one of the best stories by this author that I've "read" to date. I really enjoyed it and of course Mark Nelson does an excellent job with any story he reads! I recommend it.
