a good medieval tale

(5 Sterne)

a story well read by a wonderful voice. this would make a good movie. a little bit of a spook factor, parts of it may be to scary for the very young. but a good story of romance, ghosts, death, and justice. can be enjoyed by male or female readers young or old.

Tremendous Ole Gothic

(5 Sterne)

Full of Chivalry, duty, fealty and a romance, read by a LibriVox Volunteer of pleasant voice.

Chivalry, Honor & Valor

(5 Sterne)

A lovely tale of old, from the cast system of England, where chivalry, was as much a part of a young man's life then, as a cell phone is, today. This is an early recording effort by the popular Libri Vox volunteer, Mary Ann Spiegel, and as such, lacks the fine sound quality of her later works, yet does not diminish this narration whatsoever. One is swept away into the old English Baron's world, and met with Knights, servants, and, peasants alike.

Ancient atmosphere.

(5 Sterne)

I enjoyed this very much and found the reader and the story to be better than I expected. If I had to compare it to something---The likability of the heroine from Uncle Silas, the manners and romance of Sir Gawain and The Green Night and a sinister plot of murder and betrayal knit from a Nancy Drew.

solid read & excellent reader

(4,5 Sterne)

One of the first Gothic novels after Walpole, this text is a pleasant and engaging read because of Maryann. Thanks for your lovely read!

(2,5 Sterne)

Sadly while the author tries to make the hero the paragon of virtue he just he seems more like a nauseating prig.
