Sir Roger David Casement was a British public servant renowned for his Congo Report (1904) and his Putumayo Report (1912) both of which exposed atrocities committed by white traders in the exploitation of indigenous labor. In 1912 he retired from public service to his native country, Ireland. An Ulster Protestant by birth, Casement sympathized with the predominantly Catholic Irish Nationalists. During World War I, he enlisted German military aid in support of their cause. Roger Casement was arrested, tried and executed for treason in 1916.

Gun Running for Casement (in the Easter Rebellion, 1916) is the true story of a German special military operation meant to smuggle captured Russian armaments into Ireland so that they might be used during the Easter Rising. The book was written by Karl Spindler, the German naval officer who led the mission. (Summary by Brian Fullen) (6 hr 27 min)
