The narrator needs to be spanked. In addition to monotony she can't pronounce basic English. In the first chapter you will hear "Archie-pelaargo"? Please!

ruined by a robotic monotone reading just couldn't listen.hirrible rendition

The Reader is bad.

The story itself might be good, but the reader is so bad that it is difficult to listen without laughing or getting distracted. I literally laughed out loud when she read "Ha. ha. ha. ha" with no expression. She sometimes uses some expression, but it seems very limited and inconsistent. pronunciation is off at times. Is this a literal robot or digital artificial voice? Sometimes, it sounds like it could be, but I think this is a real human, which kind of makes it worse. I will probably listen again because I missed parts.

There’s no doubt that the author can indeed write. Beware as the sentence structure and wording are in the time period of the day, which makes the story line at times challenging at best to fallow. Surprise ending is worth it all.

interesting story

a long slow well described story. Very thankful to the narrator for her clear easy to listen to and follow style. Not Sure Walter Scott's best novel. But it is a descriptive masterpiece
