Little John Nee Sparkplug
Sparkplug By Little John Nee A surreal, rural blues comedy of a mechanic whose boat has come in. A radio version of Little John Nee’s one-man show, originally commissioned by Earagail Arts Festival, and one of the highlights of the recent Absolut Dublin Fringe Festival. Sparkplug Callaghan: bluesman and vintage mechanic is living in his dead uncle’s disused barn. He’s got the blues bad: everyday there’s another funeral, Joe Duffy’s on the radio and the banks are putting people on the side of the road…but across the meadow he sees a vision…his boat has come in. An adventure into the heart of a surreal rural landscape that combines lyrical comic storytelling with original music and songs played on a variety of intriguing instruments. Written and performed by Little John Nee. Cast: Little John Nee (Sparkplug); Lalor Roddy (Captain); Orlaith Gilcreest (Ruby); Donal O'Kelly (Mulligan); Helen Gregg (Peggy); Niamh Learmont (Margo the Fortune Teller); John Kelly (Johnny Slope).
