Alas the Final series!

(5 Sterne)

This drama written by David Ashton who also plays McLevy’s superior Officer. The series are based on the memoirs of Scotland’s very first CID Officer. Whilst unlike today’s Crime Investigators who wear suit and tie, McLevy would be fastidiously found wearing the uniform of the day. McLevy’s erstwhile sidekick Constable Mulholland was also a true to life Police Constable at the same time as ‘Inspector’ McLevy. Listening here on archive.org to a crime series I have listened too time and time again, (for the BBC broadcast it often on their drama channel) One is loathe to appear complaining! The sound broadcast on archive is undoubtedly crystal clear, But! As I have commented, McLevy is very familiar to me, you know the characters and the very intonation of their voices as well as it’s possible to recognise the ‘familiar’ in life. But as I listen here there is without doubt a qualitative difference to the ‘sounds’ in general and the voices in particular. Why this should be I have no idea, I admit to being ignorant of all things technical (and similarly with grammar!). I have heard the term compression and wonder if this is the cause.. FORGIVE my nitpicking here, and please don’t be put off because of this very old dudes rambling. For this is for me an OUTSTANDING CRIME SERIES
