Richard Hunter, formerly Ragged Dick, continues to advance in the world through luck and excellent morals. He, along with his friend Henry, moves into a better boarding house and then finds a promising job. He is framed for theft by a jealous co-worker and ends up in jail. He is exonerated, given his job back, and then is promoted. He eventually works his way up the ladder and becomes quite successful. (Written by Alys Attewater and Barry Eads) (4 hr 34 min)

excellent story

Very good moral story. Well written and well read.

I really like these Horatio Alger books

(5 Sterne)

I really like these Horatio Alger books. Like the prior book, Ragged Dick, it is most delightfully read by Alys Attewater - who never even says her name! And then in chapter 15 the reader switches to Barry Eads who is also a good reader but AA is my favorite. It takes place in pre-civil war NYC, and as in Ragged D I like the views it offers of old New York, including Chinatown before it was Chinatown. And I like the way all the loose ends get resolved. Excellent!

A very interesting novel Very good reader!!!

Sequel to Ragged Dick

(5 Sterne)

Be sure to listen to Ragged Dick before you check this one out. This classic lets you know what happens to the characters from the first book and their adventures in old New York. This book is well read and a pleasure to listen to!

Excellent! This book was full of laughter and showed how we should live morally with a forgiving heart. It also demonstrated God's favor even when we do not deserve it.

A good read

Once again, Mr. Alger produced a novel of clean and wholesome interest. With 2 of my favorite readers, it is a pleasant listen.
