Introduction to Sanskrit
Jigme Nyendak
This class is primarily for those who practice Buddhist mantra recitation or yoga and would like to develop their basic understanding and pronunciation of the mantras. The aim of the class is to learn the Sanskrit alphabet as well as how to pronounce properly the individual vowels and consonants. In Tibetan Buddhism, the teachings have been translated either into Tibetan or English however the mantras must always be pronounced in their Sanskrit form. This class gives both beginners and long term practitioners an opportunity to understand and pronounce more precisely the mantras we use as part of our meditation practice. Taught by Jigme Nyendak Biography: Jigme Nyendak has a Shastri (B.A.) in Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Language and Literature, Buddhist and Tibetan History and Sanskrit, 2006.
