The Treasure

The Treasure is a story about the Salisbury Family and the trivialities of employing help for the household. Mrs. and Mr. Salisbury see the work of a maid rather differently, especially depending on the level of education. Justine, the latest hired help, is a graduate of the American School of Domestic Science. She has Mrs. Salisbury questioning her ideas of what a maid should be, and considering the more modern approaches that her husband and daughter, Alexandra, seem to embrace. I truly enjoyed this, both book and reader, a clear and well presented audio book. it makes me glad that I was not a "servant" in those enlightened times, as a middle class family I have no servants and can't imagine not needing to do the cooking and cleaning myself, quite sad that Sally thought she was too good to soil her hands with such trivial deeds as making a bed. She should have invested in some Duvet's, quick shake and bed made.
