For fans of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Red Rising comes a gripping sci-fi adventure in which a group of teenagers wake up in a mysterious corridor with no knowledge of who they are or how they got trapped. Their only hope lies with an indomitable young woman who must lead them not only to answers but to survival.

A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief - she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust but no people and no answers.

She knows only one thing about herself - her name, M. Savage, which was engraved on the foot of her coffin. She finds herself in charge. She is not the biggest among them or the boldest, but for some reason the others trust her. Now, if they're to have any chance, she must get them to trust one another.

Whatever the truth is, she is determined to find it and confront it. If she has to lead, she will make sure they survive. Maybe there's a way out, a rational explanation, and a fighting chance against the dangers to come. Or maybe a reality they cannot comprehend lies just beyond the next turn.

How do I review this book? I will say this after listening to this book I did a search on everything Scott had written and started reading. I think this will tell you what I thought of this novel. I love the way he developed characters and "grow" them. He kept me going from the first page.

Great Performance to a Mediocre Story

(4 Sterne)

Futuristic distopian world. Strong female lead. The performance is fantastic!!! The story is a little weak in places. Predictable but still compelling. Well worth a listen. Compared to most books available on LibriVox this one was professionally produced. The biggest downside is the author's intros and outros of each part. He refers to himself in the third person and is so over hyped it sounds like it doing commentary for a basketball game. Maybe he's on meth. Either way he seems just a little to full of himself. He actually tainted my perception of the story. If he had kept his mouth shut I probably would've enjoyed the story more. Still worth a listen.

good story overall

(5 Sterne)

Starts off with a feel which reminds me of reading the first Twilight book. Told completely in the first person of what appears to be a 12 year old girl, but Scott does a very good job though of picking up the story to a point of keeping the reader advancing through the chapters. Super kudos to the female reader/VO Actress! She was very articulate & has a gift for portraying believably which admittedly quite contributed to my desire to finish the story. Good book, would recommend to my Sci-fi friends who dont mind a first person youthful female protagonist.

Worth a listen

(4 Sterne)

If you're a fan of Scott sigler this is well worth a listen, takes a while to get used to he narrators voice, she tends to over state the last word in every sentence although after a while it doesn't detract from the story. A good book and a decent reading but again says it's narrated by Scott sigler and isn't.

Must read book!

The story was a slow burner for a few chapters for me. However the story picks up and offered some interesting ideas to me that I found definitely worth the listen. It is well read and well written that enough alone is worth picking up here on librivox. Trust me take some time to listen to this book you won't be disappointed!

future flies!

(5 Sterne)

i loved this book. it's described as divergent meets the hunger games. But even though I haven't read it from what I know I would describe it more as Lord of the flies (in the future) meets the running man (which I have read and was BEFORE the hunger games and divergent!) Emma Glavin is the narrator even though it says scott sigler is (unless he has has MAJOR surgery it's not!) She does great Job, her voice is slightly dreamy, like you could go to sleep whilst listening to her. The ad's are necessary as he has to get money from somewhere! if you liked his other books you will like this

Savage & Compelling

(4 Sterne)

Compelling story set in a dystopian world, with a fantastic female lead. M Savage is a character I'd like to meet, even if some other characters remained a bit flat (but I suppose that might follow from the first person narration). Some plot twists were a little predictable, but I wasn't bothered by it as mostly the story forced me to keep my headphones on for long periods of time. The reader performed amazingly, her voice fit the story very well in my opinion.

great read.

On a road trip with my 12 yr old son and he only heard the first few chapters. He now rented the book from library and is about to start it. I know he’ll enjoy it as much as I did. Very cool book can’t wait to listen to another of Scott S. books. Also enjoyed the person who read the book, the reader is also very important.
