stop the music!!!

no really, please stop the music. great book even for an adult to get into. especially if one is familiar with the Sumerian tablets. great reading too, perfect tempo all well and good except that I listen with ear buds under my ear muffs, due to loud machines at work. the music is way too loud, nice touch, making it a whole production thing but soooo loud I sometimes can't make out the words. sorry to be a downer

The story idea is fresh and original. Most of the characters are likable. It bogs down heavily in backsory about halfway through. To the point where it becomes almost unlistenable. The author probably believes it is world-building, but in reality it is almost a study in what not to do when writing. That said, the good points well outweigh the bad and I will listen to the sequel

I love this book I've listened to this book at least three times now, that's how much I've enjoyed it. I don't typically listen to an audiobook more than once. Typically I listen to a book, enjoy it while it lasts, then move on. Once in a while, if it's ...

I really enjoyed the story in this and I would like to be able to listen to parts 2 and 3 but I am hard of hearing. Does anyone know if there is a version without music playing in the background? That made it very hard for me to concentrate ...

I was ready to subscribe to this book until I read the comments about the music being obtrusive. I listened to a couple random samples and will not be able to use this selection. It is difficult to find things the kids can share with me but we listen while ...

Good story but the ever present bed music is just annoying too much of the time. While it often does match the story line it often doesn't. Bed music should not be a cheap thrill in competition with the narration. I can not recommend this audio book even though I ...

Very suspenseful storytelling ... This was a very nice change of pace to compared to listening to a Netflix movie while cooking and cleaning tonight! Oh, for those complaining about the music, they obviously do not engage in audiobooks often .... Great narration and music, Mr Jeffrey - thanks!!

1 hr in - the music drove me away. Intriguing story, but the incessant music takes away from the book. (Notice in movies how they use music at climactic moments? ...imagine how annoying it would be if that suspenseful music never stopped.)
