This is the story of two brothers who are guest workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. One goes off on an adventure, meets a Saudi prince, and ends up dead. The other will stop at nothing to find out why his brother had to die. Accompanied by his wife, he begins a search across three continents for his brother’s killer. His hunt takes him into a trap where he, like his brother before him, becomes caught in the middle of the struggle between the pre-Al Qaeda fundamentalist Saudis and the more liberal ones who lean toward the West. His quest forces him to loose his innocence, and to face things about his country, his brother and his wife that he would prefer not to know.

Enjoyed this book overall. A bit slow to get started but if you can hang in there for a few chapters its definitely worth it. Lots of cultural info and insights for those interested in the life and culture of the conservative Saudi Arabia. I had to chuckle when the narrator referred to "Wahabis" as "wasabis" in chapter 14 @3:26ish though ;) Thank you to both writer and narrator for this!

I really enjoyed parts of this story. Some holes here and there. The ending was a problem for me. I don't know if this a work of pure fiction or based in part on some kind of life experience but the last two episode spent an awfully long time working ...

This is a great story and read and recorded well. I love the characters and learned much about the culture and customs of Saudi Arabia. The playfulness and scheming makes for exciting adventures. The last chapter was stunning. I was lulled into listening a rather boring family scene that followed ...

Hi Vincent: I just finished listening to the last chapter and it made me feel like crying, though in a good way. What a beautiful book. I've enjoyed both this and Tio Jorge *so* much. I'd definitly read or listen to anything else you write.

So sorry but I did not get past chapter 5. Somewhere in there was a good story but it was so slow to develop that I had to give up. The reading style was also unexciting. Good Luck.

Great book, containing much cultural enlightenment, This is a first rate thriller. The frustration and helplessness the characters experience is so well expressed. I highly recommend it, Thank you for all your hard work Mr. Meis.
