Grace Harlowe with the Marines at Chateau Thierry

(2,5 Sterne)

While a harrowing story, I believe one of the ancillary designs of this book was to garner sentiment against Germany. Knowing that this story was authored in 1920 it was quite common for published works of all kinds to support the harsh reparation treatment of Germany. It is in part due to the severe conditions placed upon Germany during this period that paved the way for WWII. There is no 2nd war without the first. As an aside, I can see why the female author of the HS and college series declined to write the overseas series. The publisher who owned the Grace Harlowe name employed a new writer (a man) for the remainder of GH books.
