CBS Radio Mystery Theater 10 Episodes Page 14

CBS Radio Mystery Theater (aka Radio Mystery Theater and Mystery Theater, sometimes abbreviated as CBSRMT) was a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was briefly carried by WVXU in Cincinnati.

The format was similar to that of classic old time radio shows such as The Mysterious Traveler and The Whistler, in that the episodes were introduced by a host (E. G. Marshall) who provided pithy wisdom and commentary throughout. Unlike the hosts of those earlier programs, Marshall is fully mortal, merely someone whose heightened insight and erudition plunge the listener into the world of the macabre (in a manner similar to that of "The Man in Black" on yet another old time radio program, Suspense).

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Some of the best radio plays ever

(5 Sterne)

I listened to all of the CBSRMT plays as a 16-18 year old. At the time I thought they were 40's plays. But if I listened closer to the actor's names I would have realized they were produced in the 70's. I listened to them on AM radio just like the old 40's shows. I would receive it at night from Chicago while listeninging southwest PA. I alway missed EG Marshal and that squeaky door. When I watch the Stephen King movie Creepshow I got to see what Marshall looked like after several years. So to the people that archived these show... Thanks for some wonderful memories. I listen to them on an MP3 player and a Kindle while on airplanes or at the airport. punchard

I love this show. E.G. Marshall was excellent in his naration. I started listening to Hi Brown's work with Inner Sanctum in the late 40s. It used to scare the hell out of me as a kid. I have been collection Old Radio Mysteries for years now and have over 100,000 episodes of hundreds of programs. I also have all 1399 episodes of the CBS RMT + The Revival that Hi Brown did in the 90s I have a website and you can see what I have if your interested at www.40sRadioMysteries.com Thanks Mike

I would like to thank everybody who put up these episodes. I use to listen to the CBSRMT when I was about 11 or 12 years old and have missed them very much over the years. I found them here a couple of weeks ago after doing a Google search.

Gee, those old folks who wrote these stories sure were bigoted. Not one scene depicting nonbinary gay transgendered females making love to anthropomorphic bunnies. Bad juju

the stories are good and the characters are well played but the most annoying thing is the poxy adverts every few minutes!
