(3.2 stars; 2 reviews)

In October 1943, NBC broadcast The Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto, narrated by Raymond Massey. This program was produced in cooperation with the American Jewish Committee and marks the repeat broadcast on December 12, 1943, to commemorate the Feast of Hanukkah.

The program draws a poignant comparison between the battle of the Warsaw Ghetto, where thousands were massacred by the Nazis, and the resistance of the Maccabees centuries before. The script was written by Morton Wishengrad, a young scriptwriter whose career included many notable works.

The music was composed by Morris Mamorsky, and the program featured Cantor David Putterman. Directed by Anton M. Leader, this special presentation is a significant piece of radio history.
