SHAKESPEARE RETOLD Drama On 3 – Much Ado About Nothing Sunday 13th November   2005 7:15-9:30 pm SHAKESPEARE RETOLD As part of the BBC’s Shakespeare Retold season, Drama On 3 Provided an opportunity to hear one of the Bard’s best-loved comedies, brought thrillingly to life by a star-studded cast, David Tennant and Samantha Spiro star as Benedick and Beatrice, with an introduction by Sir Richard Eyre. Shakespeare's delightful comedy sparkles with the verbal sparring of our two reluctant lovers in a world where nothing is quite what it seems. The war is over in Sicily and it is time for the soldiers to kick off their boots and indulge themselves in the finer pursuits of wine, women and song. Even the sparring Beatrice and Benedick are surprised to find they have new, fonder feelings for one another. But soon love is put to the test when Claudio is tricked into believing his Hero false, and only the intervention of an ass – namely the Town Constable, Dogberry – can prevent this comedy turning into a tragedy.   LEONATO ..
