My Favorite Husband
The Joe Hehn Memorial Collection
My Favorite Husband was a married couple situation comedy that starred Lucille Ball. The program brought her abilities as a comedic actress to the forefront, especially when she performed before a live audience. The series is more known today for creating the path that led to the blockbuster television series I Love Lucy . Many of the scripts of MFH were reworked to become Lucy scripts by writers who worked on both series. For many decades, fans had to suffer with recordings that were of very bad sound quality. Today, there are recordings in much better audio that allow fuller appreciation for Lucille Ball's performance. * * * These recordings are part of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection. Mr. Hehn (1931-2020) was a pioneering collector of radio recordings when the hobby emerged in the 1960s. Digitizing his collection of reel tapes and discs is the effort of a wide range of North American volunteers, and includes assistance of some international collectors. The groups supporting this effort with their funds, time, technology and skills are the Old Time Radio Researchers and a small group of transcription disc preservationists who refer to themselves as the "The Knights of the Turning Table."
