Douglas Of The World

Douglas of The World was a 1953 Armed Forces Radio exclusive starring Jack Moyles, best known for his lead role in the CBS series Rocky Jordan . Moyles was a busy actor in numerous supporting roles in nearly all of CBS Radio's Hollywood productions in the late 1940s and 1950s. Moyles played Brad Douglas, a correspondent for The New York World . He traveled the world to various political "hot spots" in episodes designed to reinforce USA foreign policy and Defense Department priorities to its service personnel listeners. The series featured many of radio's top voices. It is a prime example of use of media during the Cold War period. * * * These recordings are part of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection. Mr. Hehn (1931-2020) was a pioneering collector of radio recordings when the hobby emerged in the 1960s. Digitizing his collection of reel tapes and discs is the effort of a wide range of North American volunteers, and includes assistance of some international collectors. The groups supporting this effort with their funds, time, technology and skills are the Old Time Radio Researchers and a small group of transcription disc preservationists who refer to themselves as the "The Knights of the Turning Table."
