Was It Heaven Or Hell
Mark Twain
"Children and fools always speak the truth. The deduction is plain: adults and wise persons never speak it." Most would agree that lying in most situations is to be avoided. This short story is by one of my favorite liers Samuel Langhorne Clemens, aka Mark Twain. This is a Librivox recording and is in the public domain. You will find it as section 4 of the book The $30,000 Bequest. Read by John Greenman. To me the importance of this story is that we all tells lies and that there is nothing wrong with it - in certain situations. If you are one of those that think it is always wrong to tell a lie, then I hope that you will listen to this.
