Peter is your typical high school student, but when his mother's failing marriage to his stepfather begins to split his family apart he copes by dreaming up the story of Dorothea, an elf who lives in the magical Bois d'or forest. Seizing the opportunity to release his frustrations in his French teacher's nightly writing assignment, Peter shares Dorothea's story with his teacher, imagining a world in which a coven of witches, a renegade elf lord and the humans have joined forces to conquer the elvish forest.

With the Bois d'or on the verge of being invaded, Dorothea and her friends embark on a quest to find the wizard Mohan who will help them save their homeland. But the witches have other plans. They have set the three ancient evils of Anger, Fear and Lust against Dorothea. Can Dorothea survive the three curses and find Mohan in time to save her homeland? Dorothea's fate is in Peter's hands, but as his mother's marriage deteriorates and his infatuation with his French teacher increases, he must find a way to rise above the insanity and save not only Dorothea's home but also his own.

I'd recommend this to any fantasy buffs. It has good pace. The story is interesting and the two worlds; two stories worked well. The characters became real enough to care about. The plot was well developed, complex and well thought out. Ultimately it passed my anticipation test...eagerness to get the ...

Well written book, and acceptable narration (a bit wooden and some emphasis mistakes; it is really a "read aloud" book, not lively narrated) but I had some trouble with his pronunciation of some words, like his saying "excape" instead of "escape" and "co-axing" instead of just "coaxing" and "strenth" where ...

Authors should never assume their listeners are all native english speakers. Every time I heard "bois dehors" (outside wood) instead of "bois d'or" (golden wood), I whimpered. And the sword's name, Argent de fille? It translates as "money of girl." I assume he meant "Fille d'argent", silver girl? Couldn't listen ...

This book was well thought out and had great detail. I really started to care about the characters! The only thing that kept bothering me was the narrators pronounciation of the word escape. He kept saying it like is was spelled EC-scape. But the book itself was GREAT!

One more thing I think might be annoying to some and which I want to add for listeners; there is a bit of catholic advertising in there. Kinda sneakily stuck between everything, but out of place in fantasy literature and annoying for non-believers (like me).

This story is a must listen to .. Excellent
