The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Version 6)

Read by Phil Chenevert

(4.8 stars; 118 reviews)

Follow the young boy Huckleberry Finn and the slave Jim on their epic journey down the Mississippi River in the years before the Civil War. This masterpiece by Mark Twain is a delightful mixture of exciting adventures, sad mishaps, floods, lazy days floating on the raft, conniving con men and human beings in their most bewildering variety. It is a great pleasure to read and listen to. (by Phil Chenevert ) (11 hr 19 min)

Reviews

A good reader with good accents

(5 stars)

This book'a dialect is so important to the story that any reader has to be good with the dialects. This reader does a fine and sensitive job, especially with the slave Jim. Not a drop of stereotype, but a good an nuanced reading. I never felt Jim was a caricature. And of course, the book is very good.

"Oh my word!"

Awesome book (adventure) that keeps you on the edge of your seat! The reader was awesome too. It's fascinating how they take the time to read these books and not only read but add life to them. I am ever so grateful. Thank you!

Huckleberry Finn Review

(5 stars)

A true classic. Wonderful reading by Phil Chenevert. There is so much more to this book than any political controversy over any 19th century politically incorrect words. Twains/Clemens makes his characters come to life.

Outstanding all around

Outstanding narrator! Gets all the various dialects of the world of Huck Finn right and makes each one distinct. Couldn't recommend this recording of this fantastic novel enough.

Mr. Chenevert gives a great reading of Huck’s adventures. His different tones and accents for each character make the story come alive, and I often found myself laughing out loud while listening. Thank you!

Great reading! The book feels a bit too long at one point or another, but all in all, it's a lot of fun
