As usual Mark Nelson brings the story to life but even he must have wondered when will it end ! Seemed very long winded with a bunch of psychology mumbo jumbo towards the end .

mehhhh....

Despite the heap of mediocre to bad reviews I decided to give this one a try as Mark Nelson and Greg Margret are my two favorite readers. The first 1/3 of the story was enjoyable, at first I thought "this goes to show you can judge audiobook book by its listeners" however by 2/3rds of the way I was looking for a rafter and a rope for myself and a bucket of water for my cellphone. The ending just drones on and on and on and on and while normally I enjoy the (aptly described by guy from Ireland) "psychological mumbo jumbo" this would make Greg Margret roll over in his grave. (rip Greg :( )

Unusual story

An alien lands on Earth, and it is so powerful, it can kill with very little effort. It also eats its victims, piling up the bones in ritualistic fashion. It sounds like a savage beast, but things are not always as it seems. I found this to be an unusual story, but I am not sure if I liked it or not. The reader was excellent, and so were the quality of the recordings.

Enjoyable escapism

I note the negative and mediocre reviews of this so didn't expect much from it but I found it to be a great fun story, no worse bothered by waffling pseudo science and pop philosophy than most others of its ilk. I enjoyed the novelty of some of the ideas in the story and I didn't find it overly long. I found it well paced in fact

that was intense :D

librivox has been part of my (almost) daily night routine for the last 10 years now. this book was a very fine gem to me!!! this will be one of those sci-fi stories I'll recommend to people that simply NEED to give audiobooks a try!

Great read. Very interesting story, plots and with a bit of a psychological twist - ending interesting with a somewhat unusual approach to the story telling. Much enjoyed, Thanks!

thought provoking

Interesting and clever plot; I liked the author’s perspective on culture. Mark Nelson is a great reader, but he needs to learn how to pronounce “coup de grace” correctly!
