When a neighbor brings word that Grandma is sick, Mr. and Mrs. Bassett hurry off to tend to her, leaving their seven children to prepare for Thanksgiving on their own. That was downright painful to listen to. The narrator sounded robotic, yet lacked pronunciation. There was no inflection whatsoever to her reading. I understand what all the readers were hoping to create when combining all of their recordings, but it was a complete failure—some sounded far away, like they recorded through a telephone, some sounded muffled, while others were too loud. I think there was only one voice, maybe two, that were of good quality. It was incredibly hard to follow the story when all these voices are being thrown at you, plus the horrible narration, serves as more of a distraction that enjoyment.

not that good

i know it is a short story, and therefore short on details, but it is SO barebones that besides the oldest you can't figure on the kids age. the story seemed rushed and thrown together. not like her other stories at all. it is sappy and hokey sounding though. i dont think very many people would enjoy this book.

Not sure

The narrator was amazing and everyone else was too! I only could not entirely understand 'Tilly' and 'Jack'-otherwise,true Alcott and delightful!
