Story well below average which could have been easily a short story instead. Mixed narrators mostly good. Chapter 26 was excruciatingly agonizing to listen to with the vioce of "Charlie says adverts from 1970's". I would advise before embarking on listening to a huge novel to quickly proof check each chapters voice as audio books should be enjoyed not endured. July 2013.

Let down by some of the readers

I rather like the novel which sets off from an interesting premise. Some of the readers here, eg that for ch 20-23 (who reads “turn ... out of doors” as “turn ... out of the doors”, substitutes “Viguana” for “Vicuna” , and other changes that suggests lack of familiarity with idioms?) let down the side some, so maybe best listened to and read simultaneously …

An interesting and quaint tale, a little different from Wells' more well known fiction. The regular change of reader however is irritating as is the constant mispronunciation of some words by certain readers and in particular of place names. Worth a listen all the same if you have exhausted Wells' other offerings on here.

Remarkably insightful, sweet tale of youth bravely struggling toward maturity.
