Emma (version 3)
Jane Austen
Read by Elizabeth Klett

Jane Austen famously described Emma Woodhouse, the title character of her 1815 novel, as "a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like." Yet generations of readers have loved Emma, as much for her blunders as for her wit and vivacity. Emma, "handsome, clever, and rich," has nothing else to do but try to pair off her friends, and she consistently mis-reads the relationships and situations around her as much as she mis-reads her own heart. The novel features a wonderful cast of characters, including Emma's hypochondriac father, the odiously prideful Mrs. Elton, the mysterious and reserved Jane Fairfax, and Miss Bates, who never stops talking. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett). (14 hr 53 min)

Reviews
Emma & Elizabeth Klett

In terms of the book I honestly think I like this one better than Pride and Prejudice. I feel like the narration and story is better written. I still love the story of P&P but probably more so through the movie than the book. This one I really like the book much more than any of the movies made for it. It’s fun and light hearted, but also reminds us to be honest, respectful, selfless, and to avoid meddling in others’ businesses unless necessary. I. As for the narrator, I listened to a collaboration of P&P through LibriVox and it was fine but I couldn’t stand a few of them. I was much more picky this time and found Elizabeth Klett to be wonderful and made listening to Emma very enjoyable. Her accents and vocal personalities were each unique and made telling the characters apart easier to discern as well as bring them better to life in the story. I will definitely be following her narrations in the future. Well done, Elizabeth, well done indeed! 😊

I just listened to Pride and Prejudice and Emma in a row. I am only learning english as a foreign language and love to get my ear used to Elisabeth Klett's beautiful english. She reads remarkably well, and it is a real pleasure to enlarge your literary culture this way. I only hope that Mrs Klett will read more novels! Thank you!
A heroine to shake your finger at!!

Jane Austen changes it up by presenting a heroine with huge faults. Such faults u almost want to hate her but for the fact that there are characters meaner then she. But as usual well written and well read. All works out in the end!!!

I'm in love with Elizabeth Klett's reading. The women's voices were especially well done. Everything was so vivid through Ms Klett's reading of it. I didn't think I would enjoy an audiobook and for a first, this was a wonderful experience. And what can I say about Emma? Austen might have thought nobody but her would like Emma, but Ms Woodhouse is too charming not to be liked. I do think I would have liked a little more Mr. Knightley, but this was a wonderful story ♡
or a Whole Lotta English Snobbery!

Perfectly, perfect class, social, financial and familial English snobbery at its best! Austen does well with a profuse amount of words for a cup full of personal judgment! I would not have lived ast twenty years of age with her ideology of status. God bless America. Very entertaining. Narrator seems to LOVE character readings! Kudoos.
Delightful!

Emma just might be my new favorite work of Austen’s. I love the characters, the story line is excellent, and the book is full of the sparkling wit that characterizes Jane Austen. Not to mention Elizabeth Klett, who gave life to each character! Her narrating is delightful, I’m very grateful for her recording of Emma. Definitely recommend!

Elizabeth Klett is an amazing narrator. If she's not getting paid, she definitely should be. The book is slow, and if you're like me and suffer from second-hand embarrassment, some parts of it can be pretty painful to get through. It's worth it, though. Loved the ending.
A new favorite

I appreciate this wonderful reading very much! Jane Austin is so cleverly snarky in subtle language. She brings in a heroine who needs a little saving herself. I highly recommend if you enjoy people-watching or pleasant stories of embarrassing mix-ups.
