Victory is an adaptation of Harold Pinter's screenplay based on Joseph Conrad's last major novel. Set in 1900 in the Dutch East Indies, it follows Axel Heyst, a mysterious Swedish Baron who believes he can avoid suffering by isolating himself from humanity. His life takes a turn when he meets Lena, a young English violinist, while visiting a neighboring island.
As they escape to Heyst's deserted island, their relationship evolves amidst the dangers posed by predatory men, including the hotel manager Schomberg. This tale of rescue and adventure explores the complexities of love and the struggle against isolation, culminating in a tragic conclusion.
