The reverend Dr. James Hughes brings us a message tonight from Paul's second letter to the Corinthian church. In this passage there is a reference to walking in the flesh. Bro James Hughes notes that it is not usually the devil that gets us into trouble, it is our allowing our flesh to win out over what we know is right. If we allow our mind to wonder where it will unchecked, we will often get into trouble. All it takes is something to trigger an old memory and our mind is off the the races unless we maintain control. In fact, Dr. Hughes notes that in Philippians 4:7, our hearts and minds are protected by God's peace. This protection ensures that the devil cannot get to our heart or mind. Therefore, if we allow our mind to get us into trouble, it isn't the devil that has done it, it is us. We must constantly wage this war with our mind to keep our flesh in check.
